Setelah melakukan serangkaian tes resmi,
kualifikasi MotoGp seri Mugello telah melakukan sesi kualifikasi untuk
menentukan posisi starting grid saat balapan. Hasil mengejutkan ditunjukkan
oleh rider andalan Ducati, Ianone yang berhasil menyabet posisi pole. Hasil
kurang memuaskan diraih oleh Rossi yang harus start dari posisi grid
ke-delapan. Marc marquez menorehkan hasil yang jauh dari harapan, Marquez akan
memulai balapan dari posisi diluar sepuluh besar yaitu grid ke-tigabelas.
